Code Of Conduct

Stay In Control: Be able to turn and stop correctly.

Know Your Limits: Know how good you are and where you should be.

Follow The Signs: Read the signs and follow them .

Look ahead: Make sure you give the person below you the right of way.

Secure Your Gear: Put your gear in the right place when finished.

Stop On The Side: Stop on the side to prevent accidents.

Right Gear: Bring: the correct/suitable gear.

Know Load Unload: Know how to get on and off the Chairlift, Poma and Magic carpet.

We focused on staying in control and knowing our limits the most because if we had not done that people might have got seriously injured.

Intermediate Lesson

On the intermediate ski lesson we learnt how to safely go down the Intermediate Slope and be more confident to eventually go up the ChairLift.

What we found easy was turning down the slope with the wedge because we knew a little about turning.

What we found hard about our lesson was when she told us to lift one of our legs up while we skied to the other side of the slope, causing us to put a lot more pressure on our other leg.

In our lesson we learnt  a lot more about skiing so next time Xavier goes he can go up the chair lift because Jack went down it twice like a Boss, while Xavier had to wait in the car because of an injury.

Xavier and Jack.

Gear list.Equipment List.

We had to bring all this stuff to be properly equipped otherwise we wouldn't be able to go.Warm layers of clothing (polypro/thermals), Waterproof jacket, Waterproof trousers, Woollen or polypro hat, Warm, waterproof gloves or mittens, Warm socks, Sunglasses or ski goggles –compulsory!!!,Sunscreen, Factor 15+, An extra set (dry) of clothing for

the journey home, Lots of water to drink, Lunch (Students will not be permitted to purchase food/drink from the restaurant and students will not require any extra money,

We ask that parents respect this school request as this is a school outing.),Lots of snacks to eat, Medication YOU might require.

The most interesting thing that happened to Xavier is when he twisted his leg and had to ride down on a toboggan by a really skilled skier who was the medic. The most surprising thing that happened to Jack was that he got really good at skiing so he could go down the chairlift.

SSR Week 1

Fiction - read at least three short stories from a School Journal and record your thoughts about your favourite one.

Thoughts: My thoughts on Feleti’s birthday, by Kalala Raeli. I like how the book gives a lot of information about Samoa and what it was like growing up in samoa.

SSR Week 2

Magazine - read at least three articles from within a magazine. Record your thoughts about your favourite part.

On Monday the 27 of July I read a Magazine called, Wild Things, Small And Unusual. My favourite article Was about a species named Springtails, a Springtail is a very small bug, so small that when the Springtail jumps it looks like a dust particle. It was really interesting reading about these

because I never knew they existed.

SSR Week 3

Fiction - read a short novel. Record your thoughts about your favourite part.

I read Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. My favourite part of the story was when Michael (the main character) gets washed up on Kensuke’s island with his dog Stella Artoise. I really enjoyed this book because it included a lot of different places around the world

instead of focusing on just one

Beach cookout

Beach cookout On Wednesday the first of July Ruma waru walked to the beach behind the marist rugby fields to Cook food safely over top of a fire. My group consisted of me, Olive, Summer and Emma but Emma was sick on this day. We went to the beach to light a fire safely and then cook food on it for the William Pike Challenge. We made the fire first by collecting tinder, kindling and firewood. We then put the wood in the log cabin formation. We cooked bacon sandwiches for our main course and cooked bananas with brown sugar and chocolate for our desert. Our parent's help was Tania olives mum.
