callaghans ridge

On Thursday the 11th of April room one and eight went on the Callaghans ridge day tramp. For the tramp we teamed up in groups my group consisted of Callan, Nathan k and I. Ms Kemp gave us a list of native birds and plants to find for example a fantail, a bell bird and a rata tree. Our classes were split into more groups to take in the cars. When we got there the drivers dropped us off at the start of the track and then they drove around to the end of the track, while they were doing this Ms Kemp explained all the dangers that we had talked about at school and all the native life. My group saw a bell bird and a Tomtit which were a part of the list. Two hours in we were walking down the track and marking things off. We all had a number to call out just in case we didn't lose anyone my number was 32. At lunch time we made a shelter to keep the rain out using a pocket knife a rope and a tarp. My team attached the tarp to a tree and made it so it sloped down so the rain would roll off. The finnish was at a campsite and everyone was soaking wet, some with mud over there face and some who had fallen over in the creek. The cars were all waiting for us and there was some sinks to clean our faces by the toilets. I really enjoyed going on the tramp for the day it was a lot of fun and im looking forward to the next one
